A short, practical guide for parents
Fear at bedtime. Meltdowns over small things. Clinginess. Worry. And as a parent, it's hard to know what to do in the moment.
You lower your voice. Try to soften the moment. Offer a cuddle, or space - whatever seems to help.
But the storm keeps going.
You explain gently. Name the feeling. Try to make sense of what's happening together
But they can't hear you in the moment.
You stay firm. Hold the limit. Try not to give in to the pushing and pleading.
But it escalates - and you're left feeling like the villain.
What if your child isn't misbehaving — but having a hard time? And what if the answer isn't more correction — but helping their nervous system feel safe?

ANDREW V. SMITH
I'm Andrew - a paediatric and neurologically-focused chiropractor based in Hammond Park, Perth, and a dad of three.
The Waymaker Project grew from a simple belief: most of the hard moments in family life get easier when we understand what's actually happening beneath the surface - in our children, in our relationships, and in ourselves.
Everything I create starts from the same place: real families, real moments, and what genuinely helps.

OUR FIRST BOOK
